A Mustang hit by the Moore, OK EF5 Tornado lives to do another burnout. Here at Permian Ford we are so amazed and love hearing the news about the great 2003 Mustang that survived the tornado.
The destructive power of an EF5 tornado destroyed almost everything in its path in Moore, OK. However, in the aftermath of the devastation, we have really seen amazing strength and encouragement of the human spirit. One resident of Moore, Jack Haden, survived the storm and what he found after he stepped out of his storm shelter was definitely a different sight to see. His 2003 Ford Mustang was not as lucky; the tornado’s 200+ mph winds really did some awful things to the car.
While most of us would have called our insurance company as soon as possible to see what they would do, Jack Haden had other plans for his Mustang, to the surprise of everyone here at Permian Ford.
He spent most of his time getting the car ready for the road once again, after he saw that his V6 engine still was working. Haden removed the doors and front clip and he ended up putting on some new wheels and tires. While driving the Mustang around it really brought some comic relief to the area that was affected by the tornado.
Haden, an aircraft mechanic, told the news that people started taking pictures of the car almost immediately after he put it back on the road. The car is not technically street legal – with the missing seat belts and holes poked throughout the exhaust.
While we do not recommend people to do this, it brings a new meaning to “Built Ford Tough.” As you can tell, Ford models are built to last and here at Permian Ford, we make sure that you get the best value and performance.
