The previous generation Ford Focus RS with its turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five engine and 300 horsepower was not sold in the United States. The new version is said to be making its debut in the U.S. in the next year or so, and all of us at Permian Ford are excited to see it.
Until recently, talk of a new RS had been largely a rumor and speculation, but reports in the past month claim that Ford finally confirmed that development is under way. The new RS will switch out the last model’s five-cylinder engine for a new 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost unit. Of course, the power and performance figures have not been revealed, although earlier reports on the same engine suggest figures in the realm of 350 horsepower.
In addition, while the next Mustang is expected to get a rear wheel drive configuration with the same engine, the Focus RS will likely remain a front wheel drive package. Unlike the Focus ST, which contains a combination of sporty driving characteristics and practical everyday usability, the Focus RS is built with the greatest emphasis on acceleration and handling.
We are excited about the Ford Focus RS and think that it will be talked about for a very long time. What do you think about the all-new Ford Focus RS? In addition, is it a car that you would consider purchasing?
