2015 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang. For you Mustang enthusiasts, we know the first Mustang was actually a 1964 1/2, but Ford chooses to recognize the first full year, 1965. To celebrate this milestone, Ford is planning to roll out a completely redesigned Mustang for 2015 that will even sport a new Mustang logo. The design of the new 2015 Mustang is based on the Ford EVOS concept seen at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The 2015 model will be losing 400 lbs. from its current weight, making it faster, more efficient and definitely a contender in the muscle car market.
What will be different in the 2015 Ford Mustang?
The updated style of the 2015 Mustang can be summarized by the saying “less is more”. The size, shape and weight of the car have been rethought to make it slimmer and sleeker. The 2015 Mustang will feature a new independent rear suspension setup that will improve the handling of the lighter weight Mustang. The length of the new model will be 15 inches shorter and will lose 6.5 to 7 inches in width from the current version. Rumors of a new, more fuel efficient 5.0-liter V8 engine have made people pretty excited for the overhaul. The 2015 Ford Mustang will be available with a smaller, turbocharged engine as well for those looking for performance and extra saving at the fuel pump. The standard engine is expected to be a 2.3-liter V6 that will push close to 300 horsepower. The fuel economy for the V6 is estimated at 22 mpg city/31 highway.
The Design of the 2015 Mustang
The classic American muscle car the Mustang has become is not going anywhere; Ford is just giving it a new shirt to wear. A sleek rounded coupe design will set this vehicle apart from others on the road. While Mustang lovers embraced the retro look, Ford decided it was time for a change. The front of the vehicle will sport the most noticeable changes. The headlights have been narrowed to create a very polished look. The front grille and bumper will also be redesigned from previous models to complete the total rework. While it may look different, the Mustang will still embody the iconic nature it has always had
